BASIC ELECTRICITY

Class Description:

Level 1 –

Description: This entry level course si designed to introduce students to the basics of direct current (DC) electricity for low voltage locksmiths and those contractors working on electronic locking and access control systems. Featuring a balance of presentation and hands-on exercises, students begin with the basics of CA and CD electricity, electrical concepts like voltage, amperage, ohms, and continuity, and how to use a multimeter. Guided, hands-on practice with basic circuits and the development of circuits, identifying normally open (NO) and normally closed (NC) circuits, and common electronic door hardware round out this fundamental class.

Level 2 –

Description: Designed for learners already familiar with basic wiring and circuit development, refine electronic system knowledge and skills and discover practical troubleshooting techniques in this hands-on course. Actively participate in creating fail safe and fail secure wired systems, relay logic, connecting simple electronic door hardware systems using electric strikes, maglocks, keypads, buttons/switches, and power supplies, and troubleshooting those components using a multimeter.

Class Description:

This is an 8-hour hands-on class designed to educate students how to install, trouble shoot, repair and program the electronic lock both manually as well with the E-Plex Standard Software. Upon completion of the course, students will become certified and listed on the dormakaba website as a certified E-Plex Standard Certified installer.

EEPROM TIPS & TRICKS

Class Description:

In reality, this course is two courses for the price of one. Participants will be shown various Tip and Tricks that will most certainly be of interest to the automotive locksmith. Included in the first part of the course will be tips for generating lost keys, opening locked vehicles, picking automotive locks including high security and so much more. The second portion of the class will explore the world of EEPROMs which are the program storage devices housed within modern automotive immobilizer modules. The data within the EEPROM can be used to generate lost key transponders. Transponders are currently used in automotives, recreational vehicles, watercraft and motorcycles. With the manufacturers increasing security and the increase in diagnostic equipment costs and fees to use said equipment, EEPROM work may be the last hope to produce keys for cars in the future. This course will also explain the various pieces of equipment necessary to generate transponders using EEPROM techniques.

Objective: Upon completion of this course the participants will have a better understanding of how to work with various automotive locking systems and how to generate transponder and high security keys.

Class Goal: This class will instill confidence in the student’s ability to continue profiting with key generation and with the selection of contemporary automotive key generation and programming equipment.

Class Description:

Combination locks have been a part of the safe industry since the mid 1850’s. Knowing how they are assembled and serviced should be the first step for any technician wanting to work on safes. This class will take the students through a complete disassembly of a couple different combination safe locks. We will change combinations and learn how to decode unknown combinations when you have access to the inside or the safe by looking through the change keyhole. We will open a couple safes as class projects. This class is designed for beginners and the technicians that desire more knowledge. This class will assist with passing the L-24 PRP category.

In this course, begin with an overview of site surveying to determine what you need to consider – including codes, fire rating, frame and door type/materials, and fail safe/fail secure operation – and ultimately selecting the best electric strike for the application. The remainder of the class is focused on installation, with instructor demonstrations and hands-on practice of installation techniques and safety practices.

By completing this course, attendees should be able to:

    aluminum storefront and all glass considerations.

Participant will be offered hands on pinning of a progression of high security ignition and door locks from Ford and GM. To start off, class will pin up a set of GM Truck locks showcasing the 10 cut system (model year 2015-2020). Next a set of Ford F-150 external 2 track (model years 2015-2020) and finally a set of the newest Ford F-150 internal cut 4 depth locks (model years 2021-2024) will be offered for assembly. The class will also bring you up to date on vehicle platforms that STRATTEC services including GM and Ford.

ORIGINAL LISHI

Class Description:

This class is an overview of the Original Lishi Pick and Decoding Tool with a heavy focus on automotive usage. The theory of how the Original Lishi tool works when picking the various cylinders will be discussed so students can gain an understanding of what is happening inside the lock as the Lishi is used. With this knowledge, it should be easier to operate the Lishi as designed. There will be hands-on demonstration of the various Lishi tools following the taught theory and then students will be able to attempt to bypass various cylinders as well. The student will then be shown how to decode the tool in order to cut a working key for the lock that has been bypassed.

Class Description:

Electronic safe locks are on all types of safes and vaults. Many customers are afraid to change the combination, knowing how to identify them and how to change them is a money-making skill. This class will take the students through over 20 different elocks including GSA Locks, common Elocks from S&G, Securam, technicians LaGard and less common locks including several different open solenoid locks. Students will leave the class with a great understanding of how these locks operate and an electronic manual of installation and programing instructions for most elocks seen in the field today. This class focuses on installing and servicing elocks, with a discussion on various opening techniques. The class is divided between a morning lecture and afternoon programming different locks. The class will end with students opening a few locks. This class is designed for technicians with some safe servicing experience but desire more knowledge.
