CURRENTLY TRAINING IS FOR DOYLE CUSTOMERS ONLY

Doyle University was founded in 1984 as a space for our customers and security industry professionals from around the country to gather and continue their education. We invite professional local and national trainers to our state-of-the-art training facility located in North Minneapolis. We are NOT a locksmith school, this is continuing education for our customers. Training classes are scheduled throughout the year and range in topics from new product installation techniques to new technology education.

Most of our classes are offered at no cost to our customers and some include training credits and certifications. Class sizes vary and registration is required to attend. Please see the current list of offered classes below. To attend a class you MUST be registered. No walk-ins are allowed.

Lunch & Learn – 83 Series Lock Hands-On Demo & Servicing

Course Description:

The training consists of hands-on demonstration of taking apart and putting together an 83 Series Lock. Great for locksmiths that are new to the industry or anyone who wants a refresher on the 83 series.

With its interchangeable cylinder, the Eighty Three 83/45 allows you to create keyed-alike solutions. So you only need one key for several tool cabinets in the shed or for the switchgear in the factory. The padlock can be combined keyed alike with various ABUS door cylinders. The shackle can also be easily and quickly exchanged for another one – depending on requirements.

Electric Strike Install Workshop

Course Description:

Get hands-on instruction for installing an electric strike into a hollow metal door frame. We’ll cover electric strike applications, door and frame types, installation techniques, code implications, and troubleshooting. We will practice the proper methods for selecting and installing a variety of electric strikes. Upon completion, you will understand code implications of working on existing fire-rated openings and the means of egress requirements. You’ll also learn how to troubleshoot common installation issues. This course is designed for locksmiths, installers, and end users.

3-Day Electronic Opening Solutions Course

Course Description:

This is a beginner to intermediate technician level course. The class is designed to take an individual will little of zero knowledge of wiring and bring them to an intermediate level of proficiency. The class covers the following:

  • Elevation and Wiring Diagrams

Command Access Electro-Mechanical Solutions Class

Course Description:

Learn basic electronic principles for low voltage electrified hardware, connect loads to power supplies, build circuits, and understand the proper use of an electric multimeter. Get hands-on experience connecting electric locks, monitoring switches, and low power emitting devices for fail safe locks. Install latch retraction kits designed to field retrofit exit devices for several manufacturers. Instructors will teach how to transform existing mechanical hardware openings to access control openings. Get the edge on your competition and learn how to leverage existing hardware by electrifying openings with electronic transfer hinges and loops, latch retraction exit devices, electric locking hardware, dedicated power supplies, and Molex solutions.
